Spots: Basic, Previous, Where Run Ended Live Ball Fouls & Dead Ball Fouls Multiple Fouls & Double Fouls Unsportsmanlike Fouls Running Plays & Loose Ball Plays All But One Principle Clean Hands Rule

 Basic Spot – a point of reference for penalty enforcement, determined by the action that occurred during the down  Previous Spot – where ball was last snapped or free kicked  Succeeding Spot – where ball would next be snapped or free kicked

 Live Ball Fouls ▪ Fouls after ball has been snapped or kicked  Dead Ball Fouls ▪ Fouls during a dead ball period  Double Fouls ▪ Both teams commit fouls during same live-ball period (exceptions: unsportsmanlike/nonplayer)  Multiple Fouls ▪ Two or more live-ball fouls by same team during same down

 Dead Ball & Unsportsmanlike Fouls ▪ Succeeding spot  Fouls simultaneous with the snap ▪ Previous spot  Fouls during a running play ▪ End of the run (exception: foul by offence behind basic spot [all but one])  Fouls during a loose ball play ▪ Previous spot (exception: roughing passer)

 Unsportsmanlike  Dead-Ball  Non-Player  When results of the play is a touchback
