25-27 June 2007 – Working Party STES OECD Paris Background About 40 years ago, the MEI paper publication was the main and only dissemination mean for short-term statistics stored in the MEI database. Nowadays: 1.Limited role (contains about 50% of the MEI series) and 2.diminished importance as other OECD publications come along  In 2006, the MEI paper publication was reviewed  The need to improve the presentation of OECD STES emerged, along with a better visibility for metadata and graphs  more VALUE-ADDED to the data collected from NSAs and other organisations

25-27 June 2007 – Working Party STES OECD ParisObjectives  identify a NEW VALUE-ADDED MEI product for the dissemination of key short-term economic indicators  accommodate RECENT ON-GOING DEVELOPMENT in the area such as OECD.Stat, Pubstat, etc. The new product could take the form of:  a SATELLITE ELECTRONIC PRODUCT with limited analytical text and with / without a paper version  DOMAIN-SPECIFIC, STATIC AND DYNAMIC
