Blogging a Student’s Learning Reflection Tool

2 A blog is a website and basically a journal that is available on the web. The word blog is short for weblogs or web based log. Blogging is the activity of updating a blog through posting a unique and original content. A Blogger is someone who keeps a blog

3 Blogs are usually personally written and published by one person and are updated regularly. A blog is usually open to the public and are free to create. There are a lot of Free Blogging platforms such as Blogger.com, Wordpress.com, Tumbler, and more

Blogs can serve as an online diary where they can reflect on things - write about personal experiences, make reviews, give feedbacks... share recent discoveries, new likes, etc. It maybe written on any topic you can think of. From photography, to spirituality, to recipes, to personal diaries to hobbies. 4

Blog’s purpose is to share ideas and knowledge beneficial to others, make friends with and even do business with people with similar interests from around the world. responsible blogging is crucial because blogs can influence people and can make or break people, businesses, and institutions. 5

Most blogs use a conversational style of documentation that encourages readers to comment. Blogging doesn't require writers and contributors about HTML (Web page code) know-how. If a blogger or visitor can fill in an online form, they can blog and post comments on other blogs. 6

Students and Blogging Is blogging appropriate for students? YES Blogs encourage students to write more and also to read on a topic they wish to comment on Blogs give us a chance to communicate between us, friends, families, relatives around the world. 7

It can also be used by the students as a learning reflection tool Posting great ideas and useful information can engage students in higher level of thinking skills. Gives the opportunity to interact and exchange views from readers around the world and not just from the people in our immediate environment 8

Comments from blog posts can make us better writers as we will be able to know our weaknesses and talents. Blogging offer students and teachers a support tool to promote reflective analysis and the emergence of a learning community that goes beyond the school walls. 9

Points to remember Never let your blog ultimately affect your overall academic performance Make a time table and decide the time which suits you for blogging. If you are a student of a Computer Course then you can read blogs related to your study and later on create your own 10

Never ever copy an article or entry or copyrighted materials from another blogger’s blog, or websites, make sure to write your own original and unique content. It is very important that your posts be spell checked and not contain excessive amount of grammar errors. Always have it proof-read before publishing. 11

Blogging can be a part time source of income and it pays more than any other part time job but it is not as stable as a regular job. Eventually web publishers and direct advertisers will take notice of your writing skills and can offer you writing jobs for a good pay. 12
