What are warm and cool colors? Colors on opposite sides of the color wheel. Cool Colors Warm Colors

Warm colors like red, orange and yellow often associated with fire and sun suggest warmth.

Cool colors like green, blue and violet often associated with water, sky and spring, suggest coolness.

Psychologically, cool colors are said to be calming whereas warm colors energize. Optically, cool colors appear to recede while warm colors give the impression of being closer.
