“Transforming our world into fully devoted followers of Jesus to the fame of God.”

CONNECTING TO THE WORLD AROUND US ONE PERSON AT A TIME

I. The Calling to Partnership with the Spirit

Now an angel of the Lord said to Philip, "Go south to the road-- the desert road--that goes down from

Jerusalem to Gaza." So he started out, and on his way he met an Ethiopian eunuch, an important official in

charge of all the treasury of Candace, queen of the Ethiopians. This man had gone to Jerusalem

to worship, and on his way home was sitting in his chariot reading the book of Isaiah the

prophet. The Spirit told Philip, "Go to that chariot and stay near it." Then Philip ran up to the chariot and heard the

man reading Isaiah the prophet. "Do you understand what you are reading?" Philip asked. "How can I," he

said, "unless someone explains it to me?" So he invited Philip to come up and sit with him.”

Phillip teaches us 5 keys to being a connecting disciple:

Be available.

Be sensitive to the Spirit’s calling.

Be obedient by staying connected to God.

Make a connection

Bring them to Jesus.

1 Corinthians 3:6-7 “I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God made it grow. So

neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything, but only God, only God, who makes things grow.”

Isaiah 55:10-11 “As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not

return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the

sower and bread for the eater, so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me

empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.”

THE PREPARATION

Specific actions we can take:

Pray until you get a burden for one lost person.

Ask God to help you love them as He loves them.

Look for opportunities to share small acts of kindness with them.

Invite them to a small group fellowship or to a worship time.

Look for activities you can do together.

Look for opportunities to share your testimony of what Jesus did and is doing for you.

Look for the right moment to lead them in a discussion of what Jesus wants to do in their life.

God sized miracles require that we partner with God and let Him FLOW through us.
