Transfiguration

We sing a hymn/song

GOD WELCOMES US From the cloud, a voice said, 'This is my Son, the Beloved; with him I am well pleased; listen to him!‘ In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen

We confess our sin and God forgives us Friends in Christ: Jesus says: I have come as light into the world, so that everyone who believes in me should not remain in the darkness. So let us confess our sins to God our Father and ask him to forgive us through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Lord, I call to you for help. In the morning I pray to you. I am filled with praise for you, and proclaim your glory all day long. Close your eyes to my sins, and wipe away all my evil. Create a pure heart in me, O God, and put a new and loyal spirit within me.

Do not banish me from your presence; do not take your Holy Spirit away from me. Give me the joy that comes from your salvation, and make me eager to please you. Be gracious, Lord, this day, and keep us free from sin. Have mercy on us, Lord; have mercy on us.

Let your goodness and love be with us, as we put our hope in you Listen to my prayer, Lord, and hear my cry for help. No one who takes refuge in the Lord will be condemned. He hears our cry and forgives us. Amen.

We sing a hymn/song

We pray Psalm 2 “I have set my king : on Zion, my holy hill.” I will tell of the decree of the Lord : He said to me, “You are my son; today I have begotten you. You are my Son: today I have begotten you.

Ask of me, and I will make the nations your heritage, and the ends of the earth your possession. You shall break them with a rod of iron, and dash them in pieces like a potter’s vessel.” You are my Son: today I have begotten you.

Now therefore, O kings, be wise : be warned, O rulers of the earth. Serve the Lord with fear, with trembling kiss his feet, or he will be angry, and you will perish in the way; for his wrath is quickly kindled. Happy are all who take refuge in him. You are my Son: today I have begotten you.

We pray The Lord be with you And also with you. Let us pray that we become like Christ.

Almighty and loving God, we thank you for revealing your Son Jesus in glory before he suffered and died. Give us faith to recognise him as your dear Son, and strengthen us to suffer with him, until we come to share his glory. For he lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.

We listen to the address

We confess our faith I believe in God, the Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth. And in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried.

He descended into hell. The third day he rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven, and sits at the right hand of God, the Father almighty, from thence he will come to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic* church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen. * ‘catholic’ here meaning 'universal'

GOD RECEIVES OUR OFFERING We sing a hymn/song as our offering is received

Let us pray. Our great and glorious God, we thank you for sending your dear Son Jesus. Teach us to follow his example of self-giving service, and to offer ourselves and all we have in love to you and to others. Amen.

We pray for ourselves and the world

The Lord’s Prayer Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as in heaven. Give us today our daily bread.

Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us. Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours now and forever. Amen.

Let us praise the Lord. Thanks be to God. God the Father show you the light of his glory in the face of his Son, so that you may be a light to the world; And the blessing of almighty God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, be with us always. Amen.
