When we add ‘ing’ to short vowel words (a,e,i,o,u) ending in two consonant phonemes we simply add the letters i, n and g. hand – handing post - posting

When we add ‘ing’ to words with a short vowel which end with 2 or 3 consonants, we simply add the letters i, n and g. fetch – fetching rock - rocking
