BHEL – A Glance Indian integrated power plant equipment manufacturer, established in Products and services available for Power, Transmission, Industry, Transportation, Renewable Energy, Oil & Gas and Defence. 7th largest power equipment manufacturer in the world. 74% of the total power generated in India is produced by equipment manufactured by BHEL.

Financial Information

Units at BHEL Haridwar Heavy Electricals Equipment Plant (HEEP) Deals with design and manufacturing of large size gas and steam turbines, turbo generators, heat exchangers and condensers. Central Foundry Forge Plant (CFFP) Deals with casting and forging of alloy steels, creep resistance steel and supercritical steel. Pollution Control Research Institute (PCRI) Pollution control in area of air, water, noise and solid waste.

Turbine Manufacturing Block III consists of four Bays namely Bay I, Bay II, Bay III and Bay IV. The facility consists the equipments to make gas turbine, steam turbine and blades. Tool room for special tooling is located within the Block III. The facility consists of Overspeed Balancing Tunnel, indicating stand, test stands and cranes.

Gas Turbine Manufacturing Machining An important material removing technique with the help of lathe, milling machine and drill. Main Assembly The final assembly is done on the test bed, parts are assembled to make sub assembly. Rotor Assembly Hydraulic lifting platform is used to assemble the rotor and sent for machining.

Combustion Chamber Assembly After machining, the ceramic tiles are fitted in dome and combustion chamber is assembled. Testing After final assembly the testing is done at overspeed balancing tunnel. Packing After testing parts are tested it is desassembled, painted and packed for dispatch.

Steam Turbine Manufacturing Turbine Casing Machining The process is done with the help of large size planer, Drilling machine, CNC vertical and horizontal boring machines. Rotor Machining The process consists machines like Turning Lathes, CNC Lathes, Horizontal Boring Machines and Milling machines. Rotor Assembly The process is done with the help of Indicating stand, small size Grinding, Milling, Drilling, Presses and other devices to assemble rotors and discs.

Turbine Casing Assembly Machined casing are assembled and hydraulically tested with the help of pumps at double the operating pressure. Testing The Final Assembly goes for the testing, at very high speed at overspeed balancing tunnel. Packing After testing parts are tested it is desassembled, painted and packed for dispatch.

Gas Turbine Blade Manufacturing Cerrobend Casting This involves the special cerrobend casting equipments. Root Machining This involves the horizontal machining center. Length Cutting This is done with the help of circular saw and horizontal milling machine. Tenon This process involves horizontal milling machine. Grinding and polishing of fillet This process involves Abrasive belt polishing machine.

Bar Type Blade Manufacturing Blanking The process involves circular saw and band saw. Sizing Horizontal milling machine are used to provide it rectangular shape. Thickness Grinding The process involves the surface grinding machine. Rhomboid Milling This involves duplex milling machine.

Taper Grinding This process involves a surface grinder. Polishing This process involves an Abrasive belt polishing machine.

Brazed Type Blade Manufacturing Cutting and Spacer Blank The process involves horizontal milling machine. Thickness Grinding The process involves surface grinder. Cutting-off Spacer The process involves abrasive cutting. Milling the width The process involves duplex milling machine. Polishing The process involves abrasive belt polishing machine.

Blade Inspection Tools Three Dimension co-ordinate measuring machine for taper and rhomboid checking.
