CANADA GRADUATE SCHOLARSHIPS- MASTER’S COMPETITION The new * Canada Graduate Scholarships-Master’s Competition (housed on the NSERC site but site appearance will soon reflect the new harmonized view) NSERC – Canada Graduate Scholarships-Master’s Program NOVEMBER 1, 2013 – deadline to submit electronic submission of proposal and/or statement of interest to Agency opens the application portal in September and hard-close it December 1 Graduate Program review and ranking in December and January University review and selection in February and March Agency sets release of results date at April 1 when universities can upload their results to the application portal

NSERC POSTGRADUATE SCHOLARSHIPS AND CGS DOCTORAL AWARDS (PGSD/CGSD) The Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council (NSERC) offers two streams of awards through one application:Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council Alexander Graham Bell Canada Graduate Scholarships-Doctoral (CGS D); and NSERC Postgraduate Scholarships-Doctoral (PGS D) Both provide financial support to high calibre scholars who are engaged in a doctoral program in the natural sciences or engineering CGS D: $35,000 a year for 2 or 3 years PGS D: $21,000 a year for 2 or 3 years October 7 - electronic submission of proposal and/or statement of interest to be sent to Peter Ashmore at October 21 - complete application, including letters of reference. All submissions made to Graduate Administrator Application opens – September, 2013 Graduate Program Deadlines vary – October, 2013 SGPS Deadline for Graduate Programs – November 1, 2013 SGPS Selection Committee Convenes – November 2013 Agency Deadline – November 25, 2013 Final Results – March 31, 2014
SSHRC FELLOWSHIPS AND CGS DOCTORAL AWARDS (DF/CGSD) The Social Science and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) offers two streams of awards through one application. Joseph-Armand Bombardier Canada Graduate Scholarships-Doctoral (CGS D) and SSHRC Fellowships provide financial support to high calibre scholars who are engaged in a doctoral program in the social sciences or humanities. Social Science and Humanities Research Council CGS D: $35,000 a year for 3 years Fellowship: $20,000 a year for 1 to 4 years October 15, electronic submission of proposal and/or statement of interest to be sent to Peter Ashmore at October 30, complete application, including letters of reference. All submissions made to Graduate Administrator. SGPS Deadline for Graduate Programs – November 15 SGPS Selection Committee Convenes – November/December Agency Deadline – January 9 Final Results – April
OGS OGS awards are merit-based scholarships available to students in all disciplines of graduate study. These scholarships each have a maximum value of $15,000, or $5,000 per term for 3 consecutive terms A student may select either a May 1, September 1 or January 1 start date provided they are registered full- time in the degree program at the award start date. A student may accept the award for just two (2) terms, or $10,000. Awards must be held for at least two consecutive full terms The Application is divided into five components and can be completed at your own pace: December 6, electronic submission of statement of interest to be sent to Peter Ashmore at January 10, complete application, including letters of reference. All submissions made to Graduate Administrator. October 7, Launch January 24, Deadline January 31, Final day for reference submissions. Applicants MUST Finalize and Submit application once completed.

CONSULT THE EXPERT SERIES The ‘Consult the Expert’ Series offers support to scholars who are writing research proposals for competition. There will be a total of 10 3-hour sessions. There is no registration required and scholars may attend any session that best fits their schedule. Consultations with a volunteer expert will be limited to 20 minutes each and will take place on a ‘first come, first served’ basis.
