The TWO Most IMPORTANT SEWING RULES: NEVER use the sewing equipment in any way other than its intended use. NEVER behave in a way that is UNSAFE. ****You will receive ONE warning. After this warning you will put your sewing materials up for the day and complete book work.

Sewing Shears Use: Use fabric shears for fabric ONLY Keep fabric on a surface as your cut Safety/Care: Pass with the handles toward another person Keep blades closed when “resting” Do not run with shears in your hands Do not point or throw at other people Do no attempt to cut the table, pins, needles, etc…

Pins Use: Safety/Care: To attach your pattern or other pieces of fabric To hold fabric in place Safety/Care: Do not put these in your mouth Do not use pins to clean fingernails Do not stick through your skin, or stick/point at someone else

Pin Cushion Use: Safety/Care: Holds your pins and needles Do not throw the pin cushions Push pins all the way through the pin cushion

Needles Use: Safety/Care: Do not put these in your mouth For hand sewing Safety/Care: Do not put these in your mouth Do not use them to clean fingernails Do not stick through your skin, or stick/point at someone else

Seam Ripper Do not run with a seam ripper in your hands Use: To take out a seam (or row of stitches) Safety/Care: Do not run with a seam ripper in your hands Do not point at other people

Tape Measure Do not cut the tape measure or misuse To measure your body so you get an accurate fit Safety/Care: Do not cut the tape measure or misuse Roll back up when finished

Marking Tools Do not throw or misuse These can be in the form of chalk, marker, pen, pencil, or tracing wheel and paper They are used to mark your fabric Safety/Care: Do not throw or misuse If it is a pen or marker, put the cap back on

Pinking Shears Use only on fabric Shears used on fabric only that make a zig zag pattern instead of straight edge (keeps the fabric from unraveling) Safety/Care: Use only on fabric (Same safety/care as the fabric shears)
