Cherry Creek Schools

 How should you use it?  Use it for all school functions – class instruction, planning, staff meetings, professional learning communities (PLCs), in-services, etc.  Use it at home for planning, ing, research, etc.  While CCSD owns it and your building ETC, SAS, or building tech will help you to maintain it, you are responsible for it.  Your students can use it. (always be sure you log off and allow a student to login through Active Directory)  Remember, since your tablet is owned by the District, it can be made public at any time. Keep everything on it appropriate.  You are not required to purchase insurance or an insurance rider on the tablet.

Conditioning Your Battery  Conditioning your battery only takes place once – when you first install the battery and turn on your computer.  Conditioning insures that you get the expected life from your battery.  If performed properly, your battery should last 2-3 years and last between 6-8 hours of run time per charge (although this length will diminish over time).

 To condition, fully charge your computer, unplug and run until the battery is totally depleted and your computer turns off.  Complete this process 2 more times. After that, only charge the tablet when prompted from the pop-up in the notification area (bottom right in the task bar).

Continued Battery Life  Avoid leaving power supply plugged into tablet when fully charged  Once fully charged, always disconnect the power supply. You should use the tablet unplugged EXCEPT when notified.

 If computer seems sluggish – Restart/Reboot  Save to the right places. Always save to the Documents folder or to your Home (H) drive. Do NOT save to your desktop.  Avoid Viruses (Tips)Tips  NEVER click on a link in that you are not positive is from a trusted source!  Don't click on pop-up windows that announce such things as…  a sudden disaster in your city  you’ve won something - “click here to claim your prize.”  that a virus has been found on your computer - “click here to eradicate.”  Do not download software from just any website. Make sure it is reputable.  Stay away from file-sharing sites. Sites that distribute illegal versions of software (sometimes referred to as cracks), music, or "free movies" are known to be riddled with virii and trojans.  Run anti-spyware (Malwarebytes) on a monthly basis. This will eliminate pop-ups when browsing.  Run Disk Defragmentation (instructions)instructions  Other source…  Microsoft – 5 ways to speed up your computer5 ways to speed up your computer

 Hold and lift the tablet by its base or handle, not by its LCD display.  Use a properly-sized laptop case or neoprene sleeve when transporting.

 Always pull on the power cord by the plug not by the cord.  Never set it on the floor.

 Never drop it.

 NEVER keep liquids or foods near your tablet. – No drinking or eating  NEVER expose your tablet to extreme hot or cold temperatures like in the car on a 110º summer day or a below freezing winter day.

 Don’t let the tablet run too hot - NEVER block the fan intake.  Never leave it unattended and in plain sight for thieves – lock it in a cabinet draw, or with locking cable, or in the trunk of a car.

 Always save to your school related files to the Documents folder.  It is highly recommended that your manually back-up your files to the H drive (under Computer).  You have 1 Gigabyte of back-up space.  Only back-up school related files  It is recommended that staff purchase a USB thumb drive to back-up personal data.  Personal files can be saved to your tablet. Keep in mind that you only have 1 Gigabyte of store for back-up. your name
