Board Games By: Hung Nguyen Adv. Computer Class

What are Board Games? Other Interesting Game Boards: Chess Monopoly Risk Clue What are Board Games? Board Games is a fun activity for you and your friends or relative. Is a game where pieces were involved counters or pieces moved or placed on a pre-marked surface or "board.” As you can see at your left, is a picture of a famous modern game called “Sorry!” Board Games don’t have to be all the same, there are different rules for each board games. The famous board game that we knew from the medieval time to today is chess. An Example of a inside Board Game in modern time Board Games usually have 2-4 players Today Board Games sometime have cards to make the game better.

What were the Earliest Board game? First Board Game weren’t the same as we know today. It is more complicated than it looks. The first board game as we believed is Royal Game of Ur, as you can see at your right. This ancient game was made by Ur(Iraq City) and it was found by Sir Leonard Woolley in royal tombs. It is believed that this game is dated around 2600 or 2400 B.C. The rules on how you play this game will shown in this website under this text. Rules: http://www.mastersgames.com/rules/royal-ur-rules.htm Other Old Board Games that we still play until today. Checkers 2 Players game Backgammon 2 Players game BINGO 2 or more Players game

First Game Pieces? Now you think that the first game pieces are just rocks. Actually the dice was really popular among the game boards back then. They usually use sticks and dice to play their games as shown at the top right. The dice back then weren’t completely cubes, since it was hand made. Dice back then have different design. The creator can either make it big or small, depend on their games. Mostly dice are created nicely for royal members to play. One of the earliest design of a dice. It is said that this dice Is 40,000 years old

founder of The Royal game of ur We aren’t really sure who is the creator of this famous ancient game. But we should know that Ur made this game. Then later on, it was found by Leonard Woolley in the Royal Cemetery at Ur. After the discovery, people around Ur started to play the game. The game of Ur started to get popular again. This is what the city of Ur look like in the front . This is the man, Leonard Woolley who found The Royal Game. He was born April 17, 1880, London and he died on Feb. 20. His finding of Ur started around 1922–1934. He then became famous when he found the Royal Game of Ur, near a royal tomb. One of his most dramatic discoveries, royal tombs dating from about 2700 b.c. , is the finding of a practice of the sacrificial burial of a deceased king’s personal adviser. More Information about him: http://www.britannica.com/biography/Leonard-Woolley founder of The Royal game of ur

Comparison Which One do you think is better? Old or Modern Board Game? Modern Board Games? Ancient Board Games? Modern Board Game Ancient Board Game - Easy Gameplay -Complicated rules -2 players and more Similarity -It can get competitive - Many different way to play -Need Game -Board Game can have 4 players or less the game. Pieces. -Board Game usually only played by higher -Not to competitive, fun to -Modern Board status people play when you’re bored Game or Ancient have dices Which One do you think is better? Old or Modern Board Game?

Modern game boards Modern Board Games are fun and interesting. It’s faster and it’s great to play with your fellow relatives, or friends. Board Games aren’t for 1 player, is boring when it is. Play with another player, get to know the experience. Most modern board games are all about strategies. For example the game “Clue” at your right. It’s a mystery game where you and other player will try to find who is the murderer in that game. In the game, you don’t just roll dices and go anywhere, you have to think before you do your actions. If you want to know how to play clue, a video will be shown. It is not my property, so here is the link to this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2SW_RbaHPJU.

Other board games that can give chills or laughter Ouija Board is not a fun game to play, it can be interesting once you get to the good part. Is a game about calling spirits to talk with you. How do you play Ouija? Here are the important rules: #1 Be Very Serious, if not you might be in danger. #2 Always Say Goodbye At the End. #3 Never Use This Game In Your Home, the spirit can be in your home, it can haunt you. #4 Never Play This Game Alone, you need other players’ energy to call the spirit. Now we’re going to the simple rules. There will be a triangle piece on the board, put your index and middle fingers on it. You and other players ask questions, the piece will start to move on its own. But please ask serious questions, don’t upset the spirit! There have been scary stories about this game, so I encourage you to not play this game. Which one? Morphology is a creative game that is perhaps best described as Pictionary with items. Think string, beads, cubes, sticks, wooden pawns and rubber rings. How will you use those items to get your teammates to guess "farmer," "waffle" or "soccer"? As players advance on the board, they will face challenges like "eyes closed," where the morphologist (the player creating the word) cannot open her/his eyes, "weak hand only," where the morphologist can only use her/his non-dominant hand, and "you pick 5," where the morphologist chooses five pieces before knowing what word she/he must create.

Different type of board games Roll and Move (Candyland, Chutes and Ladders)  Simulation (Monopoly, Life)  Strategy (Chess, Go)  Wargames (Diplomacy, Axis & Allies,Risk)  Party/Family (Taboo, Cranium)  If you include a more modern thought process on board games I'd add:  Resource Management (Settlers of Catan, Puerto Rico)  Cooperative (Knizia's Lord of the Rings, Shadows over Camelot)  Abstract (Blokus, Ingenious)  Miniatures (Heroscape, Memoir '44)  Collectible (HeroClix, Magic: the Gathering)  Auction (Medici, Modern Art)  Tile Laying/Modular game board (Carcassonne, Zombies!!) Different type of board games

The Game Of Life: It was initially called The Checkered Game of Life Clue(More): was originally invented as a game to play in underground bunkers to wait out lengthy air raid drills during World War II. Due to such turbulent times, its initial production was heavily delayed due shortages of material. Risk: Risk was directly tied to Abraham Lincoln’s epic facial hair.
