Different Attitudes Traditional Protestants believe men are more important than women and women cannot be priests. Catholics believe men and women are equal but only men can be priests. Modern Protestants believe that men and women are equal so women can be Priests.

Key Words Equality the state of everyone having equal rights regardless of gender/race/class. Sexism discriminating against people because of their gender (being male or female).

Women can study and teach in theological colleges, administer Holy Communion and be lectors. The Apostles were all men and priests and bishops are successors of the Apostles. Traditional Protestant Men are the head of the family. Women should not speak in church or be ministers or priests. They do not accept female ordination. They take the Bible as literally true and do exactly what it says. 1 Corinthians 14:34 “Women should remain silent in the churches. They are not allowed to speak, but must be in submission, as the law says.” Modern Protestant Man and women have equal roles in life and religion. They do accept female ordination.Men and women were both created in Gods image. Jesus treats women in the Gospels as equals. Galatians 3:28 “There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.”
