Sunflowers tend to grow in the summer and face the sun while in bloom. In most areas they sow the sunflowers in the spring. In very mild climates, they sometimes tend to grow during the cooler months as well. Sunflowers need many sunlight in order to grow into big, tall, and healthy flowers.

What Sunflowers Are Used For Sunflowers attract birds because of the resources the flowers have. The sunflower seeds are high in protein for cooking oil. Sunflower seeds were taken to Europe in the 16 th century where, along with sunflower oil, they became a widespread cooking ingredient. Sunflower leaves can be used as a cattle food, while the stems contain a fibre which may be used in paper production.
