IVHS Mission The mission of the Illinois Virtual High School is to use new and emerging technologies that expand the boundaries of space and time to provide Illinois students and their teachers with increased equity and access to the highest quality educational opportunities.

IVHS Purposes The Illinois Virtual High School (IVHS) should be designed to serve three primary purposes: 1.Assure equitable access to rich and varied learning opportunities for Illinois students, with emphasis on curricular areas needed to ensure that all students can meet the Illinois Learning Standards and succeed in higher education and the workplace; 2.Expand high-quality professional development opportunities for Illinois teachers and other educators; and 3.Support schools in integrating technology into teaching and learning.

EIU Proposed Goals Goal #1 Increase participation of schools in underrepresented areas of East Central Illinois – collaborative planning and professional development activities. Goal #2 More and improved instruction available on IVHS – building capacity and sharing quality, TLT Resource Center/Teacher Academy Goal #3 Provide support for IVHS teachers and students while preparing future IVHS teachers – mentoring, support roles, practicum, tutoring opportunities.

Objective #2-2 Provide communication vehicles to improve online learning and instruction.

EIU Proposed Goals & Objectives Goal #3 Provide support for IVHS teachers and students while preparing future IVHS teachers. Objective #3-1 Provide pre-service teachers (graduate and undergraduate) with opportunities to be involved in IVHS. - Prepare future teachers for online teaching and learning environments, practicum experiences, mentoring, and tutoring.
