GIS and 911 Mapping Software Norton Lovold, Director of Sales Torgrim Hoydahl, GIS Analyst BullBerry Systems, Inc. 800-GIS-4YOU (800)

GIS and 911 Mapping Software BullBerry Systems core business is GIS based Software design, utilizing the ESRI platform and building tools specifically for applications. Initial software development was driven by County clients with specific needs that were not being met by the existing vendor community As a regional company, we have our software installed in counties in MN, MT, IA, WI, ID, SD and ND with projects going on in IL and CO.

GIS and 911 Mapping Software Mapping is often sold as part of CAD (computer Aided Dispatch) or Hardware without regard to other GIS work being done throughout the county Mapping should be easily supported and aligned with overall County GIS BBSI is dedicated to bringing in all GIS information to provide as seamless of a system as possible.

GIS and 911 Mapping Software R3Dispatch Stands for Rapid Response & Routing Dispatchers utilizing a precise Map can radically improve the time for a responder to get to an incident. With the majority of calls being cellular, the only method of finding a Cellular Call is with Mapping Software R3Dispatch Software requires precise Map data

GIS and 911 Mapping Software Who needs to work together? E9-1-1 Manager GIS Coordinator County Assessor Emergency Management Planning and Zoning

GIS and 911 Mapping Software GIS Data Building Foundation of mapping software is the GIS data The greater the accuracy of the data, the better mapping results

GIS and 911 Mapping Software Road Network Routing –Ensure topological integrity Geocoding –Interpolation based on address ranges given the road segments

GIS and 911 Mapping Software Importance of spatial accuracy

A GPS house location would end up on the wrong side of the street with lesser accuracy (red line). This will in turn route the emergency vehicles to the wrong location.

GIS and 911 Mapping Software Importance of tabular accuracy

GIS and 911 Mapping Software Topological considerations Maintain spatial relationships is crucial for accurate routing Run tests to find unconnected nodes, multi part lines, under / over passes, etc. The routing engine needs to know where a route is possible and how fast it can traverse it

GIS and 911 Mapping Software Identifying errors can be hard This intersection looks like it is perfectly snapped together

While zoomed in closely enough, it is obvious that the streets need to be edited further GIS and 911 Mapping Software Identifying errors can be hard

GIS and 911 Mapping Software Not just a pretty map Data for emergency routing differs from other GIS data Includes aspects not necessary for other GIS uses BBSI have built custom tools to ensure that the data is built correctly

GIS and 911 Mapping Software Questions to ask yourself or vendor Will my road data be able to perform routing? Will my data sets be able to return geocode results (locate an address) that reflect the real world? What is the spatial accuracy of my data (will new GPS collected data line up)? Can I trust the accuracy of the attributes for this data? What GIS platform do I need to have to maintain my data? Can you help me with the necessary steps involved with getting up-to-date information from phone companies, etc.? Multi-user vs. personal capabilities?

GIS and 911 Mapping Software Additional GIS layers used for Maps in the Center Building layer Orthophotos Bridges layer Railroad layer Railroad crossings layer Fire hydrants Mile markers layer Cell tower coverage layer Landmark layer Building floor plans Dangerous chemicals or explosives And more
