SHAPES AND PATTERNS GRADE 3

Hello, How are you doing? Today, we are going to start a new lesson on Shapes and patterns.

2- Dimensional Figure A figure that has only length and width is defined as 2-dimensional figure. Example – Square, rectangle

2-Dimensional Figures Different 2 – Dimensional Figures are –  Square  Rectangle  Triangles  Circles

Open and Closed Figure Open Figure – A figure have ends that do not meet. Closed Figure – A figure have begins and ends that meet. Open figure Closed figure

Polygons Polygons are closed figures with straights sides. Different Polygons are –  Pentagon  Hexagon  Octagon

Pentagon A Pentagon is a polygon that has 5 sides and 5 angles. side

Hexagon and Octagon Hexagon - A hexagon has 6 sides and 6 angles. Octagon – An octagon has 8 sides and 8 angles. Hexagon Octagon

2- dimensional figures Square – A four sided figure with all equal sides and 4 angles. Rectangle – A four sided figure with opposite sides equal and 4 angles. Square Rectangle

Triangle – A three sided figure with 3 angles is called a triangle. Circle – A 2-dimensional figure that has no side. Triangle Circle

Which is the 2-dimensional figure? Answer- B and C A BC

Name the following a) A polygon with 3 sides. b) A polygon with 5 sides.
