AGORA. Strengthening the social dialogue OPZZ, Poland Unio, Norway Supported by the Norway Grants, through the Fund for Decent Work and Tripartite Dialogue

AIMS  To identify the main principles of the Norwegian/Nordic model of social dialogue (with its socio-economic, historical and cultural background) and to develop how it can be implement in Poland (mainly at the local level). What are opportunities and obstacles behind such an implementation?

ACTIVITIES  February 2013: The first study visit of 10 experts involved in the project (unionists and academics) – establishing a group of trainers  May-December 2013: workshops for local trade unionists in 5 regions carried on by Polish trainers and Unio’s experts. Evaluation of Polish and Norwegian social dialogue based on experiences and the study visit. 100 trade unionists of OPZZ in total took part in all 5 workshops  February 2014: Peer reviewed publication based on study visit and workshops  February-November 2014: Seminars in all 16 regions in Poland involving unions, employers (incl. their associations) and local authorities conducted by the Polish trainers. 480 participants all together took part in all seminars  October 2014: The second study visit of 10 experts involved in the project (unionists and academics)  December 2014: Project’s closing conference

RESULTS  The partnership model inclusive for trade unions (workers) in all levels is working in practice  Benefits for the sustainable socio-economic development from holistic, long-term and transparent attitude towards social dialogue  Added value of bringing OPZZ and Unio confederations closer together

WHAT SHOULD BE IMPROVED?  Better involvement/participation of local authorities and employers’ associations  Dissemination outside trade unions
