Why Windows 10 Windows 10 has been built on a central brand idea which is supported by amazing hero features that empower people to do great things. Windows 10 I Partner Walking Deck I January

Brand Idea: Windows empowers people of action to do great things. Why Windows 10 Brand Idea: Windows empowers people of action to do great things. Always up-to-date One relationship Great hero features: Focused heroes & delighters: - Continuum - Gaming & Xbox - Built-in app suite It Just Works Cortana Multi- doing [Spartan] Tested by millions of people So why WINDOWS 10? --- the simplest way of summarizing Windows 10 really is – it’s the best of Win7 and 8 coming together, along with continued innovation. We’re building the product based on a central brand idea around empowering people of action to do great things. It’s also always up-to-date -- you’ll also receive feature updates as soon as they’re available so you’re never behind on having the latest and greatest. One relationship – our vision includes a new Windows Store, a unified shopping experience for all content types, across every Windows 10 device; one Microsoft Account ID that keeps you synced across your devices, one place to store your docs and photos via OneDrive.   Hero Features You will see a ton of new, innovative features but it’s not just geeky stuff, you know. Its features that will genuinely make your daily experience better – We’ve leveraged the familiar start screen from Windows 7 and incorporated innovative features to help you do more. Remember the familiar start screen from 7? Now that is back but if you like touch optimized apps from Win8, that is there too. Without a doubt, the best digital assistant, Cortana, on all your devices. And BTW it’s the only Digital Assistant which helps set up reminders. We have more opportunities to multi-task and multi-do with virtual desktops, snap up to 4 applications, and more the only browser on which you can ink or mark up, make comments and easily share with your friends. Delighters – we’ve got great delighter experiences to name a few Continuum which optimized the experience for the screen you are on Xbox on Windows is built for gamers, bringing together the games you love and the friends you play them with. Our built-in app suite for experiences like Photos, Maps, Music, Videos are getting so much better too - all your content in these apps will automatically be available across all your devices. And things like your music, you can buy it just once and it’s available on all your devices, unlike iOS and Android, with the help from OneDrive. Tested by millions - I will share with you some staggering numbers – at this very moment, more than 1.5 million people are using Windows 10 on their nearly 3 million devices and sharing real time feedback with us about it. And allllll of that feedback is shaping Windows 10. Such an exciting way of building Windows… Portfolio of products On the right devices for making things happen. The right devices for making things happen Windows 10 I January Moment Partner Walking Deck

Imagining the Demo Concepts Features Familiar (Start is familiar to 7&8 users, Desktop, etc) The Best of Win7 and 8 (Start Menu with Tiles, Snap, OneDrive integration, Apps in a Windows) Adapts to your use (Start, Continuum, Touch vs Mouse and KB, Apps in a Window) Built Collaboratively with user feedback- Windows Insider Program Start menu: The familiar Start menu is back with improvements, including a space for users to personalize with their favorite apps, programs, people, and websites. Continuum: Your device adapts to the usage model (Tablet, laptop) as you want Cortana: A digital assistant who knows about you – but only just what you want her to know. She is on phone and device and is voice enabled Apps run in a window: Apps from the Windows Store now open in the same familiar format as desktop programs. So users can resize and move them around. They also have title bars at the top to maximize, minimize, and close with a click.   Action Center: From the phone world – a quick way to get to your most common items Task view/Multiple Desktops: Users can quickly switch between many apps and programs that are open using a new Task view button. Users working on many different projects, using different apps and programs, can add a desktop. This helps them keep their PC content neatly organized. Or, they can create two different desktops for tasks they do at work and at home. Familiar (Start is familiar to 7&8 users, Desktop, etc) The Best of Win7 and 8 (Start Menu with Tiles, Snap, OneDrive integration, Apps in a Windows) Adapts to your use (Start, Continuum, Touch vs Mouse and KB, Apps in a Window) Built Collaboratively with user feedback- Windows Insider Program

Guidance for Windows 10 demos For all demos, only use the publicly available build for demos on http://insider.windows.com . No private or non-public builds should be used. Only do demos on machines that have been tested with Windows 10 to ensure all scenarios actually work on the device and that it is stable with the current build. Only do demos on devices that the OEM is committed to supporting either an upgrade or preinstall of Windows 10 when it is released. Show and tell why features are important– don’t just show the features.

4/17/2017 12:55 PM 1.5M+ Windows Insiders 2.75M+ Devices 100+ Countries Millions of pieces of feedback Changing the way we build Windows with our FANS – the Windows Insider Program We’re building Windows 10 in a whole new way. At Technical Preview 1, we launched a new initiative called the Windows Insider Program. The goal of this program is to engage users early and broadly – inviting them into the development process. When insiders sign up, they can download early builds of Windows 10 to not only explore for themselves, but they can provide us with real-time feedback that we can incorporate directly into the product. Imagine having over a million product testers—well we do! The results are overwhelming! Over 1.5 M people engaged and growing everyday! Over 2.75 M devices running Windows 10 in over 100 countries across the globe. Which means we are gathering millions of pieces of feedback to help us make this the best Windows ever. And the industry has taken note. Here, for instance, we see a quote from Tom Warren at the Verge. “Those 200,000 pieces of feedback will undoubtedly shape Windows 10 in interesting ways.” – Tom Warren (October 13, 2014, two weeks after the program launch) © 2014 Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved. MICROSOFT MAKES NO WARRANTIES, EXPRESS, IMPLIED OR STATUTORY, AS TO THE INFORMATION IN THIS PRESENTATION.

Excitement around Windows 10 “The usage numbers are also a good sign, because it means that Microsoft will be able to glean plenty of feedback from users.” – Blair Hanley Frank Excitement around Windows 10 “Microsoft seems committed to giving businesses what they want, so at the very least it's worth evaluating it and giving your feedback.” – Mary Branscombe “Ultimately, that's what Windows 10 is. Profound. Revolutionary. Audacious. It's more than I could have imagined was possible for something that is "just" the next version of Windows. And it's not a canned presentation, but a reality. It's really happening..” – Paul Thurrott And the industry has taken note. Here, for instance, we see a quote from Tom Warren at the Verge. “Microsoft is clearly keen on…emphasizing its desire to listen to user feedback as it looks back to the pre-Windows 8 era as much as it looks forward.” – Napier Lopez “Microsoft continues to stride toward a release of Windows 10 sometime late in 2015, arm-in-arm with developers and enthusiasts who have provided feedback throughout the process.” – Mark Hachman
