King’s Head Start Outreach This presentation will –1) describe the Head Start curriculum –2) provide examples of how other King’s students have taught “circle time” –3) give some evidence of the effectiveness of Head Start –4) give specifics on how to get involved

Head Start Uses the High/Scope instructional approach

Examples of what King’s Students have done Used a calendar to illicit kid’s response about their birthdays, got kids to count the days, had kids identify letters on calendar, etc. Used a globe to have kids identify the U.S., distinguish between water and land, etc. Used a laptop PowerPoint to have kids identify colors, count to 5, say alphabet. Passed out blown-up pictures of money and practiced counting.

If interested... We go Fridays from 1:15 - 2:30 Volunteer to observe a class Collaborate with Dr. Dils to prepare a lesson Then, teach a class with the support of the Head Start staff and Dr. Dils See Dr. Dils or him at to commit to 2 Fridays this semester
