June 22, 2004 TJR1 MICE Beamline Rate Dependency on Pi+ Momentum, and Downstream PiD Distributions Tom Roberts Illinois Institute of Technology June 22, 2004

June 22, 2004 TJR2 Pi+ Momentum Dependency The hope is to decrease TOF0 singles due to pi+ by improving the pi+/mu+ separation from B2 Start with the June04 Beamline Design Increase the pi+ beam momentum, with momentum interval unchanged Scale Q1, Q2, Q3, and B1 by pi+ momentum Leave DecaySolenoid at 4.7 T Leave everything else unchanged Note the kinematic limit is about 450 MeV/c All rates are normalized to the average of LAHET, Geant4, and MARS (deviations are 10-20% from the average)

June 22, 2004 TJR3 Relative TOF0 Singles and Good Mu+ Rates

June 22, 2004 TJR4 TOF0 Singles Rate

June 22, 2004 TJR5 Good Mu+ Rate

June 22, 2004 TJR6 Downstream PiD Distributions Add TOFX to the trigger, a new 1.5 meter diameter virtualdetector 1 mm thick, just upstream of the IronShield Increase the transverse sizes of Cherenkov2 and Calorimeter (I forgot to increase TOF2) In addition to GoodMu+, also plotted is FakeBeam, a Gaussian aperture-filling beam introduced inside Tracker1
