What is a prediction? What do you predict will happen when this man slips on a banana peel? You can predict the man will slip and fall. A prediction is when you use information you already know to think about what will happen next. We look for clues in a picture and combine it with information we already know to be true, to predict what will happen.

Weathermen make predictions He predicts the weather by looking at clouds and wind patterns on the radar. Uses clues (rain clouds) and his knowledge that clouds can cause rain to predict if it will rain tomorrow.

What can we predict will happen?

“I Predict the boys will break a window in the house.” Using the information I already know about what can happen if you play ball in the house and combining it with the clues in the picture that the boys are playing ball in the house, I can make a prediction that the boys will break a window.
