Communications and Publications Project

Background The project is supported by the Centre for Technical Cooperation (CTA) CTA has supported FANRPAN’s communication and networking activities since 2001

Objectives The project aims to: –Strengthen information and communication capacity of FANRPAN at regional and national levels –Raise awareness of stakeholders on key regional policy issues –Improve knowledge of stakeholders of critical policy issues in the SADC region.

Expected Outputs 2000 copies per issues of the “Dialogue” newsletter Dialogue is produced bi-monthly and is four pages long. The Newsletter has been well received in the region as the articles published include policy issues affecting the whole sub-region.

Expected Outputs (Ctnd) In preparation for the 2005 Annual FANRPAN Stakeholder Conference, the network will commission special information policy briefs that will be compiled and distributed prior to the Conference

Expected Outputs (Ctnd) A FANRPAN Stakeholder Directory will be published in printed and electronic formats The Directory is produced annually so as to ensure inclusion of new partners and also afford existing entries an opportunity to update their records.

Expected Outputs (Ctnd) A Stakeholders’ conference will be held in October 2005 FANRPAN will showcase all outputs from the research studies it conducted from 2001 to Presentations will be made by researchers and scientists on studies sponsored by FANRPAN and other regional/international structures. The presentations will be followed by discussions in plenary and working groups.
