Results and Discussion Acknowledgements Impacts Risk Management Education for Farm Women Annie’s project is designed to empower farm women to manage information systems used in critical decision making processes and to build local networks throughout the state. The target audience is farm women with a passion for business and involvement. A series of eight risk management education workshops. Project topics include the five areas of Risk Management - Production, Marketing, Financial, Legal Risk, and Human Resources. Objectives What is Annie’s Project? Jennifer Rhodes – Extension Educator, Agriculture & Natural Resources Shannon Dill – Extension Educator, Agriculture & Natural Resources It is the policy of the University of Maryland Extension that no person shall be subjected to discrimination on the grounds of race, color, gender, religion, national origin, sexual orientation, age, marital or parental status, or disability. Annie’s Project was conducted for the first time in Maryland and Delaware in It was the first Annie’s Project in the Northeast states. The programs were expanded in 2010 to nine locations throughout Maryland and Delaware. Distance learning was incorporated along with local speakers for coursework. Class were planned and implemented by University of Maryland, University of Delaware and local Economic Development Specialists. This incorporated a wide range of topics, experiences and resources. This program has educated 184 women with a wide range of ages, farm experience and commodity interests. The program followed the basic organization that has been used in other areas of the country. Main topics for the sessions are: Risk Management Overview, Human Resources, Personality Assessment, Business Planning, Grain Marketing, Communications, Estate Planning, Computer Use, Computer Programs for Finance and Management. The presenters of this poster are the major program teachers. Participating presenters include extension educators, private industry and government staff. We have learned so much – you never will know how you’ve broadened our vision and helped us grow. As women in farming, we have done what we are told. That tradition is changing – it has gotten old. We have the resources to help lead the way. Knowledge is power – now we have a say. Farm women together, united and strong, networking information to help each other along. For the good of our families, our farms and our friends, we will always keep trying with faith that won’t end. So for all our effort, for all that you’ve done. We have loved every minute and we all have had fun.
