How a mouse can turn into a hero?

Will Rodrick ever get out of trouble?

How does the author make me feel like I’m in the story?

How can a dog become such a good friend?

Believe it or not… As we read the story, the characters come alive and we make connections with them. Authors want us to ask these questions.

And before we know it… we’re ready to save the world— as a mouse

Writing that gives life to fictional characters is not an accident, authors write this way on purpose. How do they do it?
