1 How to Write a Book Review

2 What is a book review? A book review is something that you write to tell others how you feel about a book. A book review is NOT just a summary of the book.

3 Why would I write or read a book review?
Book reviews are a great way to share your feelings about a book. You can read through the book reviews of other students to get an idea of which books might interest you.

4 Are you supposed to only write a book review if you liked the book?
No! Book reviews tell how you feel about the book. So, if you think that the book had a disappointing ending, the story or information was confusing, or you didn’t like one of the characters – it is OK! Tell us why!

5 How can I write a book review?
Read a book. (It can be fiction or non-fiction) Think about how the book made you feel while you were reading it. Would you suggest that your friends read this book? Why or why not? Make believe you are telling your friends about this book. What would you say? Would you read another book by this author? Why or why not?

6 Where can I look to see sample book reviews?
To see some example of student book reviews you can visit the following websites: Spaghetti Book Club Book Hooks Book Hive Kids Reads

7 How can I add a book review to our school library website?
Pick up a book review paper in the library. When you finish your book review, drop the paper into the “Book Review” box in the library. Check the website, watch for your book review!

8 HAPPY READING!!!
