4 december, DAS3-G5K Interconnection Workshop Hosted by the VU (Thilo Kielmann), Amsterdam Dick Epema (TUD) and Franck Cappello (INRIA) Parallel and Distributed Group

4 december, Background Interoperability of grids is a hot topic The DAS3 and G5K are about the only true research grids around So a perfect situation to study operability issues in grids Already two years ago, initial discussions between Henri Bal and Franck Cappello Mathieu Jan is working on the interoperation of DAS3 and G5K (sept 06-feb 07 in Delft, mar 07-aug 07 in Paris)

4 december, Purpose of the meeting To explore the opportunities and to identify the problems of the interoperation of the Dutch DAS3 and French Grid’5000 grids for research in resource management, middleware, and applications in large-scale, heterogeneous grids So, to answer questions like: how to manage user access across grid boundaries how to create compatible software environments in both grids how to run parallel applications across both grids how to schedule jobs across both grids At this point, the purpose is not to create a general interconnection of the DAS3 and Grid’5000 for everybody to freely use any resources in both systems

4 december, Program: morning 10:00-10:10 Dick Epema (TUD): Introduction 10:10-10:25Dick Epema (TUD): The DAS3 10:25-10:40Pierre Neyron (Grenoble): Grid’ :40-11:10Olivier Richard (Grenoble): OAR and Scheduling in Grid’ :10-11:40Mathieu Jan (TUD): KOALA over DAS3 and Grid’ :40-12:15Visit of the VU DAS3 cluster (organized by Kees Verstoep) 12:15-13:15Lunch

4 december, Program: afternoon 13:15-13:30Philippe d’Anfray (Renater): Network interconnection 13:30-13:45J.P. Velders (UvA): DAS3 and StarPlane 13:45-14:15Pascale Primet (Lyon): Network experiments on Grid’ :15-14:30 Discussion about network issues 14:30-15:00Nouredine Melab (Lille): Combinatorial optimization on computational grids: Experiments on Grid’ :00-15:30Break 15:30-16:00Jason Maassen (VU): Application experiments on DAS3 16:00-16:30Discussion on security and configuration issues 16:30-16:45Franck Cappello and Dick Epema: Conclusions/closing
