Intern Coordinator in US Senator Chuck Hagel’s Office Allison Boies

My Summer Job as Intern Coordinator in US Senator Chuck Hagel’s Washington, DC Office Job Responsibilities: ► Creating a daily schedule for two sets of summer interns. ► Setting up the following for summer interns to attend: Congressional Tours, Senate and House of Reps. Hearings, meetings with Senator Hagel and guest speakers. ► Assisting Senator Hagel’s Policy Advisor in creating and organizing summer and fall intern documents and applications. Photographer: Elizabeth Adams

Background Information on Senator Chuck Hagel’s Internship Program Fall and spring internships generally consist of 4-5 interns. Summer internships last only 6 weeks compared with the 5 month fall and spring internships. Internships in Senator Hagel’s Office are very competitive because of the high number of applicants that apply for just a few internship positions each session. Senator Hagel offers internships to college students, who are at least sophomores, during fall, spring and summer college school sessions. There are 2 Summer internship sessions, each intern session generally has interns.

What I learned from my time in Senator Hagel’s Office How a United States Senator’s Office works. How Social, Economic and Natural Resource Policy and Legislation are prepared and how they are ultimately passed or dismissed by actions taken by Congress. The Roles of Senator Hagel’s Staff Members.
