AutoCal++ : Looking Beyond v1.0 a 6.UAT presentation by Olga Stroilova

The “Perfect Proposal” Recipe Great idea + reasonable beginning Realistically evaluate challenges … but present the “best face” picture to emphasize project importance. How does the AutoCal proposal measure up?

The Original AutoCal Proposal Gave background information and sketched out a first solution Hinted at parser design challenges, but avoided UI analysis Left reader unsure whether AutoCal would actually enhance the PIM industry

AutoCal Revamped Abstract + Introduction – Demonstrate the need for an intelligent scheduler Challenges Faced – Show that the goal will be difficult to obtain Proposed Research – Give the initial project strategy and discuss its shortcomings Next Steps – Unveil the full blown integrated AutoCal of the future Conclusion – Wrap up on a high note

Conclusion Creating a truly useful intelligent scheduler is a difficult problem that involves fine tuning several AI and UI components. The proposed AutoCal project only explores this problem but does not solve it. Thus the AutoCal proposal should not sell the project itself but focus on its importance as a foundation for future research
