Sherry Kerr Dr. Sherry Kerr has been researching, teaching and implementing drama as a learning method for more than thirty years. After receiving her BS from Louisiana State University she began her teaching career in New Orleans. Those early teaching experiences using drama with her students inspired her to attend the British American Drama Academy and Oxford University to study classical theatre. Sherry’s doctoral research at UCLA, guided by James Catterall, led to further studies at the International Center for Studies in Drama in Education at the University of Central England. Dr. Kerr studied with Dorothy Heathcote, David Davis, Gavin Bolton, Augusto Boal, Jonathan Neelands, and has collaborated with many talented drama specialists and teachers. Sherry has written research articles, case studies, developed curriculum guides, and helped schools establish integrated arts programs. Dr. Kerr conducts workshops nationwide drawing attention to the connection between drama as a learning method and research on emotion and memory. She has written plays for middle school children, directed, acted, and taught acting and production. Dr. Kerr is currently an educational drama consultant and a traveling theater teacher for the Los Angeles Arts Program. Her most recent book, Dramatic Contexts: Learning through Story, Metaphor and Emotion is soon to be published.

See you next week!
