WorkKeys ® Developed and managed by ACT. Same company of the ACT exam for college entrance. WorkKeys ® are assessments used for screening and hiring of new employees plus identifying needs of current employees. After taking a WorkKeys ® exam, an individual receives a score for that area.

WorkKeys ® : Exams Foundational Skills Assessments Communication Business Writing Listening Reading for Information Writing Problem Solving Applied Technology Applied Mathematics Locating Information Observation Interpersonal Teamwork

WorkKeys ® : Core Exams The core WorkKeys ® exams are: Reading for Information Locating Information Applied Mathematics

WorkKeys ® : Scores After the individuals take the WorkKeys ® exam, they are scored and the individual is given a scale score. Scale scores range from 1 to 6.

WorkKeys ® : Certificates When an individual scores a range score of 3 or better on all three core exams, they receive a National Career Readiness Certificate.

WorkKeys ® : Certificates Bronze – scores at least a level 3 in each of the three core areas and has the necessary foundational skills for 35 percent of the jobs in the WorkKeys ® database. Silver – scores at least a level 4 in each of the three core areas and has the necessary foundational skills for 65 percent of the jobs in the WorkKeys ® database.

WorkKeys ® : Certificates Gold – scores at least a level 5 in each of the three core areas and has the necessary foundational skills for 90 percent of the jobs in the WorkKeys ® database. Platinum – scores at least a level 6 in each of the three core areas and has the necessary foundational skills for 99 percent of the jobs in the WorkKeys ® database.

How are the certificates used in the real world? The mismatch between the skills required for most jobs and the skills of the U.S. workforce is having a significant impact on productivity and revenue across all businesses and industries. Employers need reliable ways to measure foundational skills to ensure they are hiring the most qualified, trainable candidates.

How are the certificates used in the real world? Screening—Employers interview only applicants who have the skills required for the job. Hiring and promotion—A National Career Readiness Certificate can be used as a "plus" factor to help make selection and promotion decisions. Targeting employee training and development— Employers can target their training budgets for job- specific skills rather than basic skills.

WIN* Career Readiness Courseware At all three traditional high schools, all students have access to the WIN Career Readiness Courseware. WIN* – Worldwide Interactive Network

WIN Career Readiness Courseware Win Career Readiness Courseware prepares students to successfully take the ACT WorkKeys ® assessments.

Why is ECPS doing this? Cross-curricular program to help address our students needs in Reading, Writing, Mathematics and Science. Students are individually assessed by the software. Training is based upon their individual needs. Training is self-paced for the student through the software.

Why is ECPS CTE doing this? The National Career Readiness Certificate is an excellent way to assist career and technical educators in preparing the current and future workforce. Developing a skilled workforce—one that has the ability to quickly adapt to new and changing workforce demands—is a primary focus of the career and technical education programs offered through the nation's secondary and postsecondary public schools. Identifying, quantifying, and assessing those skills necessary to prepare the workforce is critical to career and technical education. Jan Bray Executive Director of The Association for Career and Technical Education (ACTE)
