Presentation transcript:

18/05/2005Kamil Sedlak1 ATLAS Data Acquisition and Controls DAQ … data characterised by event and run number. DCS … data characterised by (valid for) some time interval. - FSI seems to belong to ATLAS DCS. DSS … Detector Safety System – safety aspects. Together with LHC info, it will be interfaced to DCS. (ATLAS High-Level Trigger, Data Acquisition and Controls, Technical Design Report, 30 June 2003)

18/05/2005Kamil Sedlak2 ATLAS DCS System (Back-End)

18/05/2005Kamil Sedlak3 ATLAS DAQ (DCS) Crew (Global and/or Subdetector Control Stations) Indicate the FSI hardware status (ready, scanning …) Check the FSI hardware status if requested Reset the FSI hardware if requested Perform the FSI scan & analysis (“in one go” or “step by step”) –Perform the FSI scan –Perform the length analysis –Perform the grid shape reconstruction –Perform the interpolation –Perform the alignment, write results to database Indicate status (last finish) of the different steps of the “FSI scan & analysis” Provide some quality measures to indicate possible problems during any of the “FSI scan & analysis” step Inform the ATLAS operators about any problems, and advice them what to do (try again, call or inform FSI expert, …)

18/05/2005Kamil Sedlak4 Miscellaneous Language – PVSS 3 (uses C for internal scripts) (there seems to be no other option for the ATLAS control room) Contact persons: –Pamela Ferrari – responsible for the Inner Detector DCS (already contacted) –Helfried Burkhard – responsible for ATLAS DCS To be clarified – (How) can the PVSS communicate with Labview and other software used in the FSI system ?
