Presentation transcript:

You have just been informed that your city has annexed a portion of the adjacent township. Your supervisor asks you to take a look at the data and change the boundary of the city to include the annexed property. How will you complete this task? In this lesson, you will learn how to: create new spatial objects (points, lines, or polygons) edit spatial objects in MapInfo use snap to nodes generate a snap tolerance move or not move duplicate nodes in the same layer Lab 9: Editing Spatial Objects

Create new spatial objects (points, lines, or polygons): A data layer must be editable To create or reshape objects Use the following tools to create spatial objects: Point Polyline Polygon Rectangle Line Arc Ellipse Rounded Rectangle

Edit spatial objects using the reshape & add node tools: A data layer must be editable To create or reshape objects Use the following tools to edit spatial objects: Reshape node Add node

Use snap to nodes: generate a snap tolerance Snap tolerance = 10 pixels Snap tolerance = 50 pixels A dotted cross- hair is seen when snap to node occurs To set the Move or not move duplicate nodes or snap tolerance distance: Select Options> Preferences> Map Window> Editing

Move or not move duplicate nodes in the same layer:

You are now ready to begin MapInfo Exercise- Lab 9 Layer Characteristics. The main objectives are: create new spatial objects (points, lines, or polygons) edit spatial objects using the reshape & add node tools use snap to nodes generate a snap tolerance move or not move duplicate nodes in the same layer Begin exercise- lab 1
