VITA Program Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Internal Revenue Service The VITA program at Northeast High is a collaboration with the local office of the IRS to provide free tax preparation to the general public. Students begin training at the end of November and conclude the end of January. Towards the end of the training, students are then tested and certified to prepare tax returns electronically. The VITA service officially starts on February 1st of each year and ends on April 15th, the end of tax season. Students are responsible for scheduling, preparing, interviewing, and submitting tax returns electronically. Advisory Board Provides paid internships for academy students. Highly involved in providing experiential and financial components for the program. Business Partners are a key component to the success of the Academy of Finance. Serves as an advocate for the academy to educational, political, and business communities. Provides paid internships for academy students. Elisa Provides industry expertise to support academy curriculum. Consists of members of the business community that meet on a monthly basis.
