Dr. Cognitive Flexibility  Rand J. Spiro Knowledge acquisition in complex domains, hypermedia learning environments, multimedia case-based methods in professional education, biomedical cognition, and constructive processes in text comprehension and recall. The BIG question: How should learning proceed so that tendencies toward conceptual oversimplification are counteracted and a wide range of future applications of knowledge are supported? A central part of the research program involves the development and testing of theory-based hypermedia learning environments designed to promote cognitive flexibility.

Things you need to get done  Make sure all your web pages are updated will all the work required  For final grading  7 Bibliography entries, research proposal, UCRIHS application, book review…  Should have signed up for prelims  More practice? If you want our feedback get it to us before the course is over  Or if you want to do it later, talk with your advisor  Meet with your advisors about next semester courses, practicum, guidance committee etc.  Poster session…

Poster session  For the final presentation…  Have your posters prepared  Have someone else review it  Poster session: Meet here at 2:30 to set up  The official poster session is from 3:00 - 4:00 (LTC faculty and students will visit)  We shall meet after the poster session (till approximately 4:30 for SIRS etc.)

Food  We will get the snacks for the presentations  Optional: We all go out for dinner /drinks after the poster fair  Everybody pays for themselves  Where? Someplace noisy!

AERA  Make it a point to go through the AERA program and select which sessions you want to visit  If you know names of people you would like to talk to try and them before hand to meet with them
