THE GUIO INDEX :  Economic strain: the household could not afford:  to face unexpected expenses  one week annual holiday away from home  to pay for arrears (including mortgage, rent payments and bills)  a meal with meat or fish every second day  to keep home adequately warm.  Durables: the household could not afford:  to have a washing machine  to have a colour TV  to have a telephone  to have a car.
