An application used by financial aid administrators at most Texas colleges and Universities to determine an undocumented student’s eligibility for state or institutional financial aid.

FAFSA U.S. Citizen Permanent U.S. Resident with an Alien Registration Card (I-551) Conditional Permanent U.S. resident with visa type (I-551C) Eligible noncitizen with an Arrival/Departure Record (I-94) showing one of the following: Refugee Asylum granted Parolee (for a minimum of one year) or Cuban-Haitian entrant U.S. Citizen Permanent U.S. Resident with an Alien Registration Card (I-551) Conditional Permanent U.S. resident with visa type (I-551C) Eligible noncitizen with an Arrival/Departure Record (I-94) showing one of the following: Refugee Asylum granted Parolee (for a minimum of one year) or Cuban-Haitian entrant TASFA Graduated or will graduate from a Texas high school or received GED certificate in Texas Lived in Texas for three years leading up to graduation from high school or receiving GED Lived or will have lived in Texas for the 12 months prior to starting college Signed affidavit stating student has filed or will file an application to become a permanent resident at the earliest opportunity Graduated or will graduate from a Texas high school or received GED certificate in Texas Lived in Texas for three years leading up to graduation from high school or receiving GED Lived or will have lived in Texas for the 12 months prior to starting college Signed affidavit stating student has filed or will file an application to become a permanent resident at the earliest opportunity

Academic and Need-based Scholarships Out-of-state students who are awarded $1,000 or more in academic scholarship funds qualify to pay tuition at the Texas resident rate at public institutions. Driver’s license number or State ID number W-2 Forms and other records of income Student and Spouse prior year Federal Income Tax Return, if available Student’s Parent’s (if you are a dependent) prior year Federal Income Tax Return, if filed

Current bank statements & investment information For dependent students: parent’s level of education, & date(s) of birth. The completed TAFSA must be submitted with any prior year Federal Income Tax Returns, W-2 or other proof of income to the school the student will attend.

Student applies for admission Completes the affidavit and submits to college Fulfill all residency requirements set by S.B Register with Selective Service (males) Obtain forms at U.S. Post Office, or online at Suggest that the student make copies of forms before mailing

File tax return if required by minimum income requirements set by IRS Request Tax Return Transcript (When requesting a tax transcript, the tax payer’s name and address must be entered online exactly as it appears on the tax return.) or (800) SSN or Individual Taxpayer Identification Number, street address, zip code

Section I: Student Information (dependency questions) E.g., age, marital status, homelessness status, dependents, etc. Section II : Household Information Family members in home and in college Section III: Additional Information Student Tax return filed, drug question, work visa Housing plans, prior receipt of TEXAS Grant Parent Tax return filed, marital status, age, level of education

Section IV: Income and Assets Part A. Annual Untaxed Income Child support received, money received or paid on student’s behalf, wages not listed on W-2 forms or tax returns Part B. Annual Income Exclusions Child support paid, taxable scholarships Part C. Assets Cash, savings, checking accounts, net worth of investments

Section V: Total Family Income If less than $7,000 provide breakdown of expenses and explanation of how cost of living was met. Section VI: Selective Service Registration All males years required to register Registration available at U.S. Post Office Also available online at Registration acknowledgement card

Section VII: Signatures Student and parent must sign High school counselor may sign for student, only if parent is not available due to extenuating circumstances.

Notify student to apply for admission before sending the TASFA to the college's financial aid office Student and parents must file tax return if required Order a copy of tax transcript (if required to file) Include the appropriate signatures Register with Selective Service (males) Send copy of registration acknowledgement
