To What Extent Should Internationalism be Pursued? Daye Lim THIS BABY’S ADORABLE FACE CAN DEFINITELY CREATE WORLD PEACE

T his would be an example of ultranationalists. People like this would not want to have to do anything with the outside world. They care for themselves and themselves only. Immigrants that come to their country will be discriminated and pressure will rise against the government of diversity, and even the international influence. The ultranationalists will disagree to helping other countries of the world.

Discrimination and hatred on other ethnic or cultural groups result in war and even a genocide for “ethnic cleansing”. Internationalism is not being pursued or fast enough to keep peace in any other country. That, however, cannot be seen as our fault. How are we, a nation, supposed to help other countries in the world if we’ve never heard of it? The media has great influence on international response.

International response seems to always be one step late. The UN made up of almost every country in the world claims they promote world peace and security. They have more than 192 countries as a member and they are not able to predict a genocide. They watch as people get killed and when it seems that the number continues to grow then they go into action.

There are few countries with poor judgement. North Korea, in dictatorship of Kim Jong Il, the stupidest and craziest guy ever, believe every country in the world are betrayers and believes the only way to get attention is to make bombs and attack innocent people. According to South Korea after the bombing conflict, if this has to be war they have the US and China who offered to help. I don’t think the US and China should encourage war! If they really want to help South Korea they can help negotiate whatever the misunderstanding was! (just a piece of my mind) He’s so ugly too. UGH.

National interests that are wanted to be pursued by the Democratic might be different from what the Republicans want. Disagreement within a government, can lead to war. The US being the biggest economic force of the world can affect many others.

It’s kind of like black ink slowly dropping on a plain white shirt. As the black ink continues to drop in the same spot, eventually the shirt will turn black. The US being the main focus of the world, to spread internationalism the US needs to set examples and be the leader. Good judgement the US makes or not, it will eventually spread to the other nations across the world. But are they really a good leader for internationalism? Going back to the genocides, what was Bill Clinton doing while 20% of the Rwanda population was dying off? After the genocide is over he claims that he didn’t know about it and he would have done something about it only if he knew. He faults the media.

Hopefully one day, those world organizations to promote world peace and security succeed in their mission and “enemies” won’t be a world for anyone around the world.

Internationalism is not only about world politics, and social issues. It can also be environmental and usually these are uncontrollable. SARS, for example, spread throughout the world from Hong Kong. People caught it from Chinese people by sharing the same air in airplanes etc. Airports in 2003 went crazy. All the workers were to wear sanitary gloves and masks. Even shoes! (at least in Toronto). People getting on airplanes were to wear masks and were checked individually.

Swine flu also being another disease spread throughout the world, was also transmitted the same way. The world is coming to an end, I swear.

vaccines for swine flu was imported to Canada (first batch). Our population is over 30 million! Not only that, the vaccine was not a very reliable prevention from swine fly either. There were reports of people actually getting swine flu FROM the vaccine, and this teenage girl even got disable by it. Either way, people were still lining up to get this shot, only because internationalism, the media, made it sound scary that we were all going to die and it was all the Asian people’s fault! That starts discrimination again… and now we’re back at the top!
