IPv6: The Next Generation Internet Dipen Chauhan

Background Internet Protocol version 6 is the next generation Internet Protocol. Defined in December 1998 by the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) It is an Internet layer protocol for packet switched internetworks

Technology Detail IPv6 has a vastly larger address space than IPv bits compared to the current 32 bit IPv4. Thus it has support for 3.4×10 38 Mandatory network layer security Simplified processing by routers Options extensibility Jumbograms

Impact Larger Address space Better header format: the header of IPv6 has been designed in a way to speed-up the routing process. Provision for extension Resource Allocation support Security Features
