Diamond Radiator Development Brendan Pratt University of Connecticut GlueX Collaboration Meeting, Jefferson Lab, October 2011

Completed Project Hurdles Pulse energies of over 120mJ Ablation energies available for >8hours continuous running Laser Leak rates >>10mbar/day Ablation Chamber assembled and holding vacuum Chiller system installed allowing for maximum rep rate (50Hz) Computer model of beam spot, optics line installed X-Y translation stage built and mounted to chamber External trigger circuit completed Data acquisition of beam pulse energies LabView programs written to control translation stage, triggering system, and data acquisition.

Ablation Setup Translation Stage Energy Sensor Ablation Chamber Lens

What’s Next Believe Asymmetric beam spot is due to misalignment of the laser’s end reflector Once shape and milling depth/energy is understood we will begin processing 20micron diamonds.
