Weather Fronts Warm Front Cold Front Stationary Front Occluded Front

WARM FRONT SYMBOL

WARM FRONT

WARM FRONT COLD FRONT Short, usually intense storms - (thunderstorms, squalls, tornadoes) They usually pass fairly quickly. Bring a steady drizzle, light rain; a low cloud base, and possibly fog. They may take a day or two to pass.

COLD FRONT SYMBOL

COLD FRONT

Stationary Front The differences in their temperatures and pressures have almost equalized. Result - usually little wind but a long period of rain

Stationary Front

OCCLUDED FRONT SYMBOL

OCCLUDED FRONT The cold front contributes high winds and unsettled conditions; the warm front contributes steady heavy rain

OCCLUDED FRONT

HIGH PRESSURE AREA

LOW PRESSURE AREA
