Pacific Area Delivery Programs Support Updating MSP Data to Reflect Lunch Break

Pacific Area Delivery Programs Support Major Issue Requiring Attention  Pacific Area has over 10,000 routes that do not have lunch time assigned in MSP  This has an impact on every MSP scan after the lunch time is taken ●Lunch times must be input to ensure valid MSP data ●Without correct data, MSP data cannot be used to address street issues accurately  Effort required at every identified delivery unit to correct this problem ASAP.  Following slides show the process for updating lunch times and pivot plans

Pacific Area Delivery Programs Support  Creating a new pivot plan re-calculates the sector segment times.  New sector segment times are used to calculate MSP street scan times  Create logical groups that are LOGICAL  Always insert lunch break ●Must be at end of logical group where carrier is authorized to leave route for lunch ●MUST BE the EXACT LOCATION Pivot Plan Instructions—MSP

Pacific Area Delivery Programs Support To begin, click on the Pivot Plan Maintenance button

Pacific Area Delivery Programs Support

The latest route information is downloaded from the AMS database. Recreate the Pivot Plan per your District instructions.

Pacific Area Delivery Programs Support After creating the logical groups you can assign lunch locations and assign breaks. The logical groups should be created so the lunch location is at the end of a logical group.

Pacific Area Delivery Programs Support LUNCH BEFORE 1 ST DELIVERY  Upon opening the pivot plan, 1. Select the first sector segment and make it a logical group by itself. 2. Group the remaining sectors according to the desired logical groups on the 1564A. 3. Insert the lunch break on the second logical group after the first delivery (which should now be the first logical group). This will expand the scheduled interval of the travel time to route by the duration of this one delivery. (The first delivery cannot have an MSP Point)

Pacific Area Delivery Programs Support  Upon opening the pivot plan, 1. Select the sector segments as logical groups according to the desired relays or groups on the 1564A 2. Select the last sector as a logical group. 3. Insert the lunch break at the last logical group which will expand the scheduled interval of the travel time from route. The Lunch will be shown before the Last Delivery. (The Last Delivery cannot have an MSP Point) LUNCH AFTER LAST DELIVERY

Pacific Area Delivery Programs Support That’s too much work What’s the harm if I don’t put in the lunch break.

Pacific Area Delivery Programs Support If no lunch break in inserted in the pivot plan the 30 minutes expands the travel from interval 36

Pacific Area Delivery Programs Support When Do I Have to Recreate the Pivot Plan?  New/Edit PS 3999  Line of travel changes  Starting time changes  Add/delete deliveries  Route adjustments implemented Remember: RECREATING PIVOT PLAN UPDATES MSP TIMES!!
