® ® Introducing Brake Inspector ® …. the Electronic Air Brake Diagnostic System

Brake Inspector ® is an electronic air brake diagnostic system that monitors a vehicle’s air brakes  Identifies brakes that are out-of- adjustment or approaching the adjustment limit  Detects non-activating brake chambers  Indicates slow to activate brake chambers  Indentifies brakes that have failed to release  Detects slow to release brake chambers  Indicates weak or broken parking brake springs®

Brake Inspector ® eliminates the number one fleet brake problem: OUT-OF-ADJUSTMENT BRAKES Brake defects accounted for 58% of out-of-service violations. Brake adjustment defects were the leading cause of brake related out-of -service violations (52% of all brake defects). Vehicles equipped with automatic slack adjusters accounted for 75% of brake defects resulting in out-of-service violations TOTAL BRAKE DEFECTS 58% ALL OTHER DEFECTS 42 OPERATION AIR BRAKE - SEPTEMBER 11-17, CANADA & USA BRAKE ADJUSTMENT 52% BRAKES OTHER 48% OPERATION AIR BRAKE - SEPTEMBER 11-17, CANADA & USA

The Importance of Brake Adjustment ® Proper Brake Adjustment Means Shorter Stopping Distance

Brake Inspector ® Benefits Reduced Maintenance Costs  Fewer unnecessary brake adjustments  Pre-empt costly repairs by identifying existing and potential brake repairs  Extend brake lining and tire life with balanced braking

Brake Inspector ® Benefits Improved Fleet Productivity  Less driver time on brake pre-trip inspection  Less downtime from out- of- service infractions  Reduced PM time spent on foundation brake system  Less mechanic time locating and diagnosing brake faults  Equipment is on the road quicker with less downtime in shop

Brake Inspector ® Benefits Improved Fleet Safety  Eliminate roadside infractions and resulting fines  No loss of brake related demerit points  Increase operator confidence in safety and reliability of fleet equipment  Demonstrate safety commitment to regulatory and inspection agencies

Brake Inspector ® Features  In-cab Display Module monitors up to four axles simultaneously  Brake status shown at each wheel-end position  Green  Green, Yellow & Red “Status LEDs” provides easy use and understanding  Recall of last brake application  Switch between “Driver mode” and “Maintenance mode” ®

Brake Inspector ® Features Driver mode and Maintenance mode Driver Mode shows LEDs lighting only when a brake “fault” condition is detected. Brakes working properly (“no fault” conditions) are not shown. Driver mode shows lights only when a “fault” is detected at the wheel sensor. Normal brake application shows all LED’s off in driver mode. Maintenance mode shows all LEDs lighting each time brakes are applied. Both “no fault” and “fault” conditions shown with each brake application. Driver mode Maintenance mode

Brake Inspector ® Features  Intelligent sensors mounted at brake chambers identify brake faults and communicate with Display Module.  Electronic wheel-end sensors programmed to DOT standard 1.75”, 2.00”, or 2.50” stroke travel limits.  Sensors activated by magnetic clevis pin (trucks) or magnetic clamp indicator pin (trailers).  Powerful magnetic field with up to ¼ inch air gap with sensor

Brake Inspector ® Features Cable extensions and crossover junctions link Sensors to Display Module Wheel sensorsWheel sensor Wheel sensors Cable extensions Crossover junctions Cable extensions Wheel sensor Cable extensions Crossover junctions Display Module Power wire

Brake Inspector ® Features  System runs self diagnostics: LED bulb check at start up Sensor – Magnetic clevis pin alignment Faulty sensor  Key components are environmentally sealed for severe operation  Highest quality OEM grade circuitry and components ®

How Does Brake Inspector ® Work?  Brakes are applied and the push rod moves the magnetic clevis pin across sensor face  Magnet activates sensor and a multiplex signal transmits data to Display Module  Brakes are released and the push rod retracts the magnetic clevis pin across sensor face  A multiplex signal transmits data to Display Module ® Brakes ReleasedBrakes Applied

How Does Brake Inspector ® Work?  Green  Green LED’s on the Brake Inspector ® module indicate that all brakes are within adjustment limit  Yellow  Yellow LED’s on the Brake Inspector ® module indicate 1/8 inch stroke travel left before limit.  Red  Red LED’s on the Brake Inspector ® module indicate stroke travel has reached or exceeded adjustment limit ® Maintenance Mode Driver Mode

Brake Inspector ® will save your fleet time and money!  Reduced Maintenance Costs No unnecessary brake adjustments Pre-empt costly repairs Balanced braking  Improved Productivity Mechanics Drivers Equipment  Improved Fleet Safety Eliminate roadside detention Avoid costly inspection fines ®
