Date of Birth Lois Lowry was born in 1937 in Hawaii. She is still living today.

Family Lois Lowry has a mother, father, big sister (Helen), and a little brother (Jon).

Early Childhood A very important event in Lowry’s childhood was World War II.

Education Lowry attended a private school in New York.

Adult Life Lowry is a very well known author. She was married to Donald Lowry. Donald Lowry Jr. was her son. Ben Lowry was her other son.

Important Events or Stories In 1977 Lowry’s first novel is published. In 1990 Lowry receives her first Newbery award medal for her novel Number the Stars.

Why is she known? She is known as a very well accomplished author of award winning novels.

Most Interesting Fact Lowry’s father was an army major and was sent to the Pacific.
