Mike Mazzalongo #3-The Kingdom Character

Review Jesus is King: - Worshipped by wise men - Rulership over dark spirits - Ministered to by angels

The Kingdom of the King Jesus’ kingdom exists wherever His will is being done.

In the sermon on the Mount the King answers the question, “How do people act when they have your kingdom within them?”

In the Kingdom of Jesus… 1.What constitutes true happiness? 2.One’s attitude towards the Law. 3.Our relationship with God. 4.Our relationship with others. 5.The way to life in the kingdom.

When Jesus saw the crowds, He went up on the mountain; and after He sat down, His disciples came to Him. He opened His mouth and began to teach them, saying, “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. “Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted. - Matthew 5:1-4

“Blessed are the gentle, for they shall inherit the earth. “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied. “Blessed are the merciful, for they shall receive mercy. - Matthew 5:5-7

“Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God. “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God. “Blessed are those who have been persecuted for the sake of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. - Matthew 5:8-10

“Blessed are you when people insult you and persecute you, and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of Me. Rejoice and be glad, for your reward in heaven is great; for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you. - Matthew 5:11-12

“You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt has become tasteless, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled under foot by men. “You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden; - Matthew 5:13-14

nor does anyone light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on the lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven. - Matthew 5:15-16

Beatitude Beatitudo Blessed Happy /Joyful

Beatitudes - 9 Begin the same way Make a promise Deal with spiritual things Directed at people in the kingdom How things work in the kingdom

What makes you happy in the kingdom is very different than what makes you happy in the world.

In the Beatitudes we see man as he is in the regenerated state.

“Do not think that I came to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I did not come to abolish but to fulfill. For truly I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not the smallest letter or stroke shall pass from the Law until all is accomplished. - Matthew 5:17-18

Whoever then annuls one of the least of these commandments, and teaches others to do the same, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever keeps and teaches them, he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven. - Matthew 5:19

“For I say to you that unless your righteousness surpasses that of the scribes and Pharisees, you will not enter the kingdom of heaven. “You have heard that the ancients were told, ‘You shall not commit murder’ and ‘Whoever commits murder shall be liable to the court.’ - Matthew 5:20-21

Jesus is teaching on the difference between the “Applied” Law and the “Spirit” of the Law.

1.Murder: Applied Spirit KillingThoughts

2.Adultery: Applied Spirit Divorce Impurity

3.Vows: Applied Spirit Selective Honesty

4.Justice: Applied Spirit Restitution Mercy

5.Humanity: Applied Spirit Isolation Love

God imputes kingdom character upon us by faith Not practice.

Kingdom dwellers perfectly obey the True Law by Faith.

How to exercise our relationship with God in the kingdom: Practice Pray Trust

“In everything, therefore, treat people the same way you want them to treat you, for this is the Law and the Prophets. - Matthew 7:12

“Enter through the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the way is broad that leads to destruction, and there are many who enter through it. For the gate is small and the way is narrow that leads to life, and there are few who find it. “Beware of the false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly are ravenous wolves. - Matthew 7:13-15

Jesus’ Invitation 1.Enter by the narrow gate.

Jesus’ Invitation 1.Enter by the narrow gate. 2.Beware of false prophets.

Jesus’ Invitation 1.Enter by the narrow gate. 2.Beware of false prophets. 3.Don’t just “hear” the Word.

When Jesus had finished these words, the crowds were amazed at His teaching; for He was teaching them as one having authority, and not as their scribes. - Matthew 7:28-29
