You have heard that it was said to the people long ago, “Do not murder.” Kingdom Code Matthew 5:21

Be careful not to do your “acts of righteousness” before men, to be seen by them. If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven.

So when you give to the needy, do not announce it with trumpets, as the hypocrites do, to be honored by men.

But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, so that your giving may be in secret.

And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray to be seen by men.

But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen.

This, then, is how you should pray:

Our Father in heaven, may your name be honored, may your kingdom come, may your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us today our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we ourselves have forgiven our debtors. And do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. Give us today our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we ourselves have forgiven our debtors. And do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.

When you fast, do not look somber as the hypocrites do, to show men they are fasting. When you fast, do not look somber as the hypocrites do, to show men they are fasting.

But when you fast, put oil on your head and wash your face, so that it will not be obvious to men that you are fasting, but only to your Father, who is unseen.

Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.

If you perform religious acts to impress other people, then you’ll miss God’s reward. If you perform religious acts to impress other people, then you’ll miss God’s reward.
