 MSA EUROPE 2005 AirElite 4h The unique Closed Circuit Breathing Apparatus 4 hours rated service time Air regeneration with KO 2 Innovative Hi-Tech

 MSA EUROPE 2005 AirElite 4h Design: 2 KO 2 -canisters with automatic starters and service free cooling Exhalation bag Inhalation bag Surplus valve Blower assisted exhalation Battery IC-Air control monitor Charging jack

 MSA EUROPE 2005 AirElite 4h Design: Electronic terminal block Mask connector, automatic start, air hoses Consumption sensor Air flow routing and convection cooler Air distributor Particle filter

 MSA EUROPE 2005 AirElite 4h Circuit: Exhalation Inhalation è The exhalation air is enriched with oxygen è CO 2 and H 2 O are absorbed

 MSA EUROPE 2005 AirElite 4h KO 2 - function and reaction: 2KO 2 + CO 2 + H 2 O >> [K 2 CO 3 *H 2 O] O 2 + E (Potassium Hyperoxide) (Potassium Carbonate) (Heat)  KO 2 is a very reactive, extremely stable chemical, reacting with the humidity and the CO 2 of the exhalation air, releasing O 2 and heat (exothermic reaction)  KO 2 oxidises reliably all foreign substances ... and the breathing air is very dry!

 MSA EUROPE 2005 AirElite 4h KO 2 - reaction: 2KO 2 + CO 2 + H 2 O >> [K 2 CO 3 *H 2 O] O 2 + E:  Increased exhalation = more CO 2 + more H 2 O raise the oxygen generation! Or vice versa, less consumption reduces the O 2 -generation.  At any time, more O 2 is generated than used!

 MSA EUROPE 2005 AirElite 4h Flexible Service Time: The service time depends on the respiration perform- ance. High performance (heavy work) increases the oxygen generation, low performance (light work) extends the service time! Sudden changes to high performance are compen- sated by the oxygen surplus!

 MSA EUROPE 2005 AirElite 4h 7,200 Litres Breathing Air for 4 hours at 30 litres / minute consumption DIN Respiratory Protective Devices - Self Contained Closed Circuit B. A. - Part 2: Chemical Oxygen (KO 2 ) Generating Type for work and rescue and vfdb 0802 (Regulations for the selection and use of Respiratory Protection Devices and Chemical Protection Suits for the Fire Brigades) including appendix D (Flame engulfment)

 MSA EUROPE 2005 AirElite 4h The breathing air regeneration Advantage: O 2 -generation / CO 2 -absorption are effected exclusively by KO 2 :  in one stage, compressed oxygen and CO 2 absorbers (soda lime), that must match each other, are not needed.

 MSA EUROPE 2005 AirElite 4h KO 2 - B. A. do not need:  oxygen cylinders  oxygen pumps  deep freezers for ice production

 MSA EUROPE 2005 AirElite 4h KO 2 offers:  optimal O 2 -surplus there is no compressed-O 2 -reserve, which may cause a CO 2 -intoxication if the soda lime cartridge is exhausted prematurely [CO 2 -enrichment in the closed circuit]  a CO 2 intoxication is impossible!

 MSA EUROPE 2005 AirElite 4h KO 2 is:  totally breath controlled (no valves and pressure reducers that need maintenance)  simple in construction, has very safe function, and is very quickly ready for use.  almost maintenance free  long storable

 MSA EUROPE 2005 AirElite 4h What is happening in the KO 2 - canisters?  CO 2 -absorption  water absorption  O 2 -generation  chemical transformation of KO 2  generation of heat air cooled heat exchangers + maintenance free water cooling

 MSA EUROPE 2005 AirElite 4h Dimensions and weight: 360 mm 600 mm 190 mm 15 kg

 MSA EUROPE 2005 AirElite 4h Simple donning and doffing, also during use (breathing hoses under left arm)

 MSA EUROPE 2005 AirElite 4h Low cost training  TR-conversion kit for quick conversion of the operational AirElite into a trainer

 MSA EUROPE 2005 AirElite 4h  dependent of the ambient air, è the P3 particle filter permits training in dense fog and nontoxic smoke Trainer

 MSA EUROPE 2005 AirElite 4h and the IC-Air è manages and monitors the AirElite è clears the AirElite for the mission è warns of defects è counts the consumption è signals audibly and visually è alarms at immobility è offers a manual alarm

 MSA EUROPE 2005 AirElite 4h and the IC-Air Test button and display illumination LED red/green Manual immobility alarm Reset and calibration Automatic immobility alarm > 95 dBa

 MSA EUROPE 2005 AirElite 4h IC-Air display at start : Function check: display segments + + beep + light = OK Failures: 1 = battery 2 = starter / canister 3 = blower 8 = sensor Beep 1

 MSA EUROPE 2005 AirElite 4h IC-Air display in use: Capacity indication: 100 % to 0 % Cylinder symbol : 8 segments 50 % residual capacity: short beep 15 sec 20 % residual capacity: LED red/green, interval beep, escape symbol 5 % residual capacity: LED flashing red, continuous beep, escape symbol flashing 0 % residual capacity: AirElite continues operation

 MSA EUROPE 2005 AirElite 4h Donning:

 MSA EUROPE 2005 AirElite 4h Inspection & Maintenance 6 months: visual check (lead seals) recharge battery check readiness (test button) (if fitted) 2 years: replace KO 2 -canisters training 5 years: replace battery consume originally packed KO 2 -canisters

 MSA EUROPE 2005 AirElite 4h Cleaning & Disinfection l Mask l Breathing tubes l Breathing bag and valve control l Air distributor l Blower (spray disinfection only)

 MSA EUROPE 2005 AirElite 4h

 MSA EUROPE 2005 AirElite 4h Application Mining: Mine Rescue Teams The BA on site with the lowest maintenance requirements, the least periphery logistics, the fastest readiness, the most cost efficient training. The BA for quick missions!

 MSA EUROPE 2005 AirElite 4h Application Fire Brigade: The BA for the rare long-run missions! For stand-by rescue teams (2 AirElite for fire engines) Fire Brigades with tunnel missions (Railways/Subways/Road tunnels) Chemical industries, Refineries, Tank farms. Military facilities, Bunkers, Depots. Port authorities: onboard fire fighting Free from frequent service & maintenance!

 MSA EUROPE 2005 AirElite 4h USPs in a nutshell: è excellent breathing comfort: low resistances low air temperature dry breathing air è maintenance and ice free cooling è no periphery logistics (cylinders, pumps, ice) è low cost training è slim design, breathing hoses under the arm
