Presentation transcript:

 A small town divided by the rivalry of two gangs the poor, unwhelthy “greasers” and the rich and wealthy “socials” or “socs” for short. If it was a big town then the whole town probably wouldn’t know about or be involved with this rivalry.  The church, that catches on fire by one of the “greasers” cigarettes. If the “greasers” were smoking at a bar it would be more likely that they would be smoking, and not as bad if the bar burned down rather than the church.

 One of the conflicts in the story, The Outsiders is between the “greasers” and the “socials”. One example is when pony-boy was walking home from a movie all by himself then the “socials” came up and started beating pony-boy up. Which is a man vs. man conflict.

 In the beginning, Pony-boy leaves a movie theater then a group of “socs” jump him. His older brothers Darry and SodaPop save him. One day Pony-boy comes home late and gets hit by his brother Darry. Pony-boy runs away and meets up with Johnny. They wander around the neighborhood then Bob, Randy, and three other drunk “socs” go up to them. After a “soc” almost drowns Pony- boy in a fountain Johnny gets scared and stabs Bob. Pony- boy and Johnny find Dally. Dally gives them money and a loaded gun then tells them to hide in the abandoned church. Dally comes back and tells Johnny and Pony-boy that even a bigger rivalry has exploded between the two gangs. Johnny decides that he wants to turn himself in. They notice that the church is on fire. They go in and try to save the kids that are inside, bad things happen. After that Pony-boy goes back to school, realizes something then things start to go back to normal.

 My theme for The Outsiders is, that you shouldn’t judge people by their social status, and to look beyond that and get to know them.

 The story, The Outsiders is written in first person point of view. Which means that you know the persons feelings and thoughts are about the current situation. If this story was written in third person point of view you would know what all the characters thought and felt about the current situation and the book would probably be longer.

 One of the symbols in this story is the sunrise and sunset. It is a symbol because in the book Pony-boy is at the movies with cherry and they found out they both liked them. Pony-boy realizes that all people are the same under their social status. DC9463CC6801&first=1

 This book, The Outsiders is worth reading because it is a good book that is relatable to teenagers and people our age. There are a lot of connections that you can connect to yourself.
