1 Chronicles 27:32-33 Jonathan, David’s uncle, was a counselor, being a man of understanding and a scribe; he and Jehi′el the son of Hach′moni attended the king’s sons. Ahith′ophel was the king’s counselor, and Hushai the Archite was the king’s friend.

1 Chronicles 27:34 Ahith′ophel was succeeded by Jehoi′ada the son of Benai′ah, and Abi′athar. Jo′ab was commander of the king’s army.

1. Friends are not a luxury. They are a necessity.

Exodus 33:11 Thus the Lord used to speak to Moses face to face, as a man speaks to his friend.

John 15: 9-11 “As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love. If you keep my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commands and remain in his love. I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete.

John 15: My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends. You are my friends if you do what I command.

John 15:15 I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master’s business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you.

John 15:16-17 You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit—fruit that will last—and so that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you. This is my command: Love each other.

Judges 11:36-37 “My father,” she replied, “you have given your word to the Lord. Do to me just as you promised, now that the Lord has avenged you of your enemies, the Ammonites. But grant me this one request,” she said. “Give me two months to roam the hills and weep with my friends, because I will never marry.”

Judges 11:38 “You may go,” he said. And he let her go for two months. She and her friends went into the hills and wept because she would never marry.

Deuteronomy 13:7-8 …some of the gods of the peoples that are round about you, whether near you or far off from you, from the one end of the earth to the other, 8 you shall not yield to him or listen to him, nor shall your eye pity him, nor shall you spare him, nor shall you conceal him;
