LYING

To lie is to state something that one knows to be false

THE LYING TONGUE IS IT OUT ON THE LOOSE?

Messenger of Allah (pbuh) said: “Shall I not tell you the worst of major sins?” Associating partners with Allah, disobeying parents.” He was reclining, then he sat up and said, “and indeed giving false statements, and indeed bearing false witness….” And he kept repeating it until the companions wished that he would stop. [Sahih Muslim, Book 001, Number 0158]

Satan makes sins look insignificant and minor and then gradually deceives us to commit those sins.

Lies ACTIONS WORDS THOUGHTS

Allah (swt) says: “Not a word does (he or she) utters but there is a watcher by him ready (Surah Al-Qaf 50: Verse 18)

THE TWO GREAT LIES 1. A lie against Allah (swt) “Who can be more wicked than one who invents a lie against Allah…..” Surah Al An’am 6: Verse 93 2. A Lie against Muhammad (pbuh) Prophet (pbuh) said: "Ascribing false things to me is not like ascribing false things to anyone else. Whosoever tells a lie against me intentionally then surely let him occupy his seat in Hell-Fire." ... (Bukhari)

You would not want to be on the other end.

FALSE PROMISES Making a promise with no intention of keeping it. One who says "I will do such-and-such insha Allah"

"The signs of the hypocrite are three: when he speaks he lies, when he promises he breaks his promise and when he is entrusted he betrays the trust." (Bukhari and Muslim)

“Mom I didn’t use your cosmetics!” BOLD FACED LIE “Mom I didn’t use your cosmetics!”

Exaggeration

APRIL FOOLS DAY

THE HORRORS OF LIES

YOU and your words lose SIGNIFICANCE

ITS AN UGLY LABEL TO CARRY ON YOU!

Some lies can haunt us

The Prophet (pbuh) said: “Verily Lying leads to wickedness, and Verily wickedness leads to the Hell Fire” (Bukhari)

BUT YOU CANT RUN FROM THEM! Lies are often used to cover up problem areas in your life like a band aid. YOU CAN HIDE LIES BUT YOU CANT RUN FROM THEM!

The number one cause of Losing trust of people is LYING

THE THREE EXCEPTIONS It Must be crystal clear in our minds that this concession is given to us by Allah (swt),for ONLY three special circumstances.

In a Battlefield or War Zone

Patch Up between Husband and Wife

For Reconciliation between people

Allah's Messenger (pbuh) said: “A liar is not one who tries to bring reconciliation amongst people and speaks good (in order to avert dispute), or he conveys good”. (Muslim)

Can you and I honestly say that we have committed ourselves unconditionally to the Truth?

YES to Jokes NO to Lies Abu Hurayrah (ra) said that the Prophet (pbuh) was told, "O Prophet (pbuh), you are joking with us." He (pbuh) said: "I only say what is true.“ (Tirmidhi)

A misconception “I am no angel or I'm no Prophet, so I'm bound to lie once in a while”

Prophet Mohammad (pbuh) was nicknamed ‘As Sadiq’ and ‘Al Ameen’ meaning ‘The Truthful’ and ‘The Trustworthy’ even before he was bestowed with Prophethood!

Every shortcoming is natural to the believer except for A companion of the Prophet (pbuh) Sa’ad bin abi Waqqas (ra) said: Every shortcoming is natural to the believer except for Deception and Lying

Am I a Trustworthy friend? Does my family TRUST me? Am I a Trustworthy friend?

Do I Lie to my teachers?

If the answer is NO to any of the questions then we need to to where are we going wrong?

IS THERE A REMEDY?

HEALING AN AILING TONGUE Keep in touch with the Qur’an. From the bottom of your hearts ask Allah (swt) to help you Become truthful. Speak little but always the truth. Offer little but honour the offers. Hang out with honest friends
